Bangladesh already has a high level of violence against children, a high instance of child labour, and a significant number of children living on the streets and in institutions. Over 45 million children (89 per cent) aged 1-14 have been exposed to violent discipline in the previous month. The measures undertaken to contain and suppress the spread of the virus, including lockdowns, quarantine and closed schools, are leaving children highly vulnerable to increased violence.
